What thoughts do we take captive?

So we’ve decided to wage war on thoughts that are not obedient to Christ and make them obedient to Christ.  Some of those thoughts are sort of obvious – I shouldn’t worship the devil, for example. 

But what about the less extreme things?  How can I best determine which thoughts are innocent wanderings and which need to be taken captive?

One verse the Lord has brought repeatedly to mind for me in determining which thoughts should be taken captive is Philippians 4:8:

Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

There are so many helpful adjectives in there.  I look forward to exploring them more with you in the following posts!
